Liebchen is a lively and fun-loving orange cat who stole our hearts the moment we saw him at the Rifle Animal Shelter in the beautiful region near Aspen, Colorado. From day one, he was eager to explore the great outdoors, meowing at the door to be let out. So, we got him a harness, and from that moment on, he became our little adventure buddy.
Taking to the harness like a pro, Liebchen went on his first hike at just 10 weeks old. Since then, he’s been by our side on all kinds of escapades. Whether we’re skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, swimming, or even flying on airplanes, Liebchen is right there with us, enjoying every moment of the journey.

Our buddy shared a photo of Liebchen that was uploaded on the Rifle Animal Shelter’s social media. There was something special about the way he looked at the camera, with his unique half-white mustache and vibrant energy. When we met him in person, he was off on his own in a corner, giving the other kittens some serious attitude with his hissing. Despite his love for the great outdoors, the presence of predators like mountain lions, bobcats, and eagles in our area makes us uneasy about letting him roam freely. As a result, we’ve found a compromise by taking him on walks and hikes, allowing him to enjoy nature safely.
Skiing is another activity Liebchen enjoys, even though it’s only seasonal. He happily rides on our shoulders or in a backpack, relishing the feel of the wind on his whiskers. Taking naps on the gondola or chairlift is a favorite pastime for him, and he delights in meeting new people along the way.
