Introducing Bowie, the charming rescue cat capturing hearts online with his stunning blue and green eyes. This European Shorthair sports heterochromia, a rare and beautiful condition where each eye is a different color.
Described as very playful by his owner Maria Lloret from Spain, Bowie finds joy in interacting with other cats, even if they don’t always reciprocate his enthusiasm. Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with Maria to learn more about this energetic and mischievous feline, and why rescuing pets is so important.
Named after the iconic David Bowie, it’s noted that the rockstar didn’t possess heterochromia like his feline counterpart. However, the similarities are striking, leaving us to wonder if Bowie the cat has some hidden meow-sical talents waiting to be discovered. Bowie’s Chronicles: The Second Chapter

Just like any typical feline, Bowie loves lounging around for a good nap and absolutely adores his meals. According to Maria, “There’s no food that Bowie doesn’t like.” She mentioned how the sight of treats makes him start purring instantly. Additionally, his favorite toys are little mice that make noises when shaken. Maria shared with Bored Panda how amusing it is to watch Bowie play, tossing the toys in the air and catching them.
Rescued from a park at only 3 months old, Bowie found his forever home thanks to a local animal shelter in Benidorm, Maria’s coastal hometown.

“My sister came across an ad seeking a family for Bowie, and as soon as we saw him, we knew he was meant to be with us. Not only was he stunningly beautiful, but he had such a loving personality, always purring and seeking warmth. As soon as he entered our home, he devoured his food and promptly fell asleep in my arms,” Maria shared about Bowie’s heartwarming first day with his new family.
Maria disclosed that all of her feline companions have been rescues, and she couldn’t be happier. She emphasized the importance of adopting from shelters, stating that it truly saves lives. “There are countless animals out there who just need a second chance, a family to care for them. We make a point to advocate for adopting black cats, as we had a black cat named Louis before Bowie who was not in the best health. With some time and TLC, he transformed into an incredible companion. We miss him dearly.”

The owner of Bowie, a cat with unique features, shared that black cats, older cats, those with disabilities, and sick cats are often overlooked for adoption. In her experience, these cats are actually the best companions. Older cats are calm and won’t damage your furniture, cats with health issues can teach patience and unconditional love, and black cats are said to bring good luck. Maria also mentioned receiving messages about Bowie’s name, as some fans of the singer David Bowie claim he didn’t have heterochromia. Despite this, she felt the cat’s striking appearance was a perfect fit for the name Bowie.
